Biography / Artist statement

Wells Projects started as a DIY exhibition space. Making use of the unusual surroundings, a group of artists and live-in guardians held loose group shows and performances working mainly with local graduates. During 2018 and 2019 these shows grew in ambition and scope until Wells Projects became a recognised name on the underground art scene. By 2020 Wells Projects had produced over 20 group shows and exhibitions. We have worked with over 200 emerging artists, recent graduates and creatives.

Wells Projects operates on a free-to-use, open-to-all, first-come basis. We accommodate sculpture, painting, performance, installation, dance, crits, university groups, self-publishers, fashion, photography, film, food art and more. We are very proud of the variety of artwork as well as the diversity of the artists we worked with. By being totally available and welcoming to all, we worked with artists from multiple backgrounds, we became known as a safe space where experimentation was possible and support available
