Tim Goffe
Biography / Artist statement
With the belief that observational figurative painting has a place in contemporary art, Tim Goffe is drawn to where light casts it’s magic. He has been selected for the RA summer shows for the last three years. Chosen by Grayson Perry and Barbara Rae to be curated in their rooms, he has also been selected for The Columbia Threadneedle Prize, The National Open Art Comp, the ING Discerning Eye, The Lynn Painter Stainers Prize. In 2014 he was awarded the Gordon Hulson Prize for “Draughtsmanship, Variety & Exploration” at the Royal Society of British Artists Moved by the disquiet of the abandoned building, a forgotten space, a night time petrol station or an empty shop, Tim Goffe’s painterly style is a balance of precision and expressive mark-making, which has developed from his desire to translate into oil paintings the emotional effects light can evoke. He looks for beauty in the ordinary, and inspiration in the mundane.
