Biography / Artist statement

Peter is a Cornish born artist living and painting in his London studio. Peter paints and sketchbooks are a constant companion. He began by painting Cornwall’s vivid tropical gardens and celebrated landscapes. Art provides the simple pleasure of being able to rest his mind in a busy world. He left Cornwall to travel abroad and was struck by the hidden beauty of cities. He enjoyed being engulfed in colour and discovering the rich and diverse culture around him. These elements inspire his art work. Peter paints beyond the physical environment to incorporate the lives and history of the people. He find inspiration in Hockney, Picasso and Monet. He admires the way that they use colour to capture the total environment in a moment of time.
