Peta Cottee
Biography / Artist statement
Peta Cottee learned to sew as a child, but was inspired to start again, in 2016, having found her old sewing machine gathering dust in the attic. She mainly makes handbags using leather, tweed, tartan and other beautiful fabrics, all of which are offcuts or recycled. Her leather comes from Italy and all her tweed and tartan comes from gentlemen’s outfitters and kiltmakers in Scotland. Other fabrics are offcuts from local upholsterers. As well as making handbags, Peta makes a range of lovely homeware and accessories ranging from purses, make up bags and washbags through to napkin holders, storage caddies and even tartan Christmas baubles! She likes to put together strong colours and prints to make truly unique items.
