Biography / Artist statement
Emma is an artist, illustrator and curator, working and living in London. She paints abstract images on canvas, board and custom-made birch wood panels. She is inspired and intrigued by the power and beauty of nature, the constant interaction of the elements and how they make her feel. She also illustrates everyday life in watercolour.
Some of her recent work was selected for the final round of judging for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2020.
Emma is also the founder and curator of the hugely successful London Art Sale, which raises funds for charities whilst supporting the participating artists. To date she has raised over £50k for the Rural Refugee Network and Children on The Edge. She is now working with The National Youth Arts Trust to put on a sale to raise funds for this wonderful charity that provides performing arts to underprivileged children.
Emma is a member of one of the oldest swimming clubs in London, South London Swimming Club (SLSC), founded in 1906 and whose home is at the wonderful Tooting Bec Lido, the largest lido in Europe. Tooting Bec Lido is 100 yards long and 33 yards wide and contains one million gallons of water. This beautiful art deco lido is encircled by trees and birdsong and is known for its iconic, colourful, wooden poolside changing cubicles. All of which have been captured in a recent illustration of the lido by Emma.
