ArtLacuna is an artist-led space established in early 2013 by Chris Cawkwell, Amelia Critchlow, Jane Harris and Alex March. Located in an old coroner's office near Clapham Junction, we accommodate artist studios, a residency and research programme, colour and B/W darkroom, as well as project and exhibition space.

ArtLacuna operates as a not–for-profit arts organisation that commissions new work and key developmental opportunities – supporting research and experimentation by emerging and lesser-represented artists and practitioners. We are keen to foster an inclusive platform for all emerging artists and practitioners, and provide a springboard for professional development and artistic practice.

ArtLacuna aims to open up dialogues across creative disciplines, providing a resource for local professional and student communities. A creative hub which closes the gap between disciplines and explores the creative process as experienced by artists, designers and makers. To this end, the project provides working space for artists, project space for visiting artists, and forums for discussion and conversation.

Since 2013 ArtLacuna has strived to foster an inclusive and culturally diverse exhibition programme – aiming to bring contemporary art to an audience that might not otherwise have access to, or engage with it.

As directors and artists we value fairness and equality, it is because of this that we operate as a not-for-profit and have sought to create inclusive and affordable studio space for artists. Managed and maintained on a voluntary basis – all profits are reinvested into public exhibitions, studio space and equipment for studio members.
