Calling creatives!

Wandsworth Art is Wandsworth Council’s new programme that connects local people with the vibrant wealth of creative talent on their doorsteps.

Launched in August 2020, wandsworthart.com will become a new online platform that showcases local artists, designers, creative producers and projects, cultural groups and organisations based in, or from, the London borough of Wandsworth.

Getting involved offers creatives the chance to have their practices promoted and to be part of a new creative network. It’s also your opportunity to influence the new ten-year Wandsworth Art and Culture Strategy that’s currently in development.

Sounds good, tell me more!

On the website we’ll also be publishing exclusive interviews with artists and innovators, looking back at our artistic heritage, and inviting leading industry partners to select top artists to watch out for and give advice to those entering the creative industries.

Alongside the digital offer, Wandsworth Art will also soon launch its new outdoor arts project, ‘Framed, which installs curated artworks on shop windows and lampposts throughout the borough.

I have a creative practice! How do I take part?

Wandsworth Art embraces all art forms and levels of professional experience. Whether your practice is visual art, design, crafts, music, filmmaking, poetry/spoken word, or jewellery design, if you live, work, study, or were raised in Wandsworth you are warmly invited to create a profile on WandsworthArt.com. There is no cost to participate.

To have your work featured, please submit your profile and images here. If you are a visual artist, your work may be selected by curators for the outdoor art project, ‘Framed’. We strongly encourage artists to submit profiles as soon as possible for the chance to have their artwork publicly exhibited (successful artists will receive an honorarium payment). We will contact you directly if your work is selected.

I run or work for a cultural group or organisation in the borough. How can we get involved?

Wandsworth Art is all about celebrating our local scene and championing the groups, organisations, venues and project spaces that make up its lifeblood. Whether you lead a cultural venue, artists’ studio complex, a crafts workshop, a choir or a writers’ group in the upstairs room of a pub, no matter how established or avant-garde we want to promote your work and acknowledge your contribution to our cultural ecology. Please submit your profile here.

Note: If your organisation, gallery or creative agency represents artist/s, please create separate profiles for your organisation and artists independently. This way everyone gets the exposure they deserve and we can map the borough’s cultural infrastructure more accurately.

I once produced a creative project in Wandsworth, does that count?

Absolutely! If you have run a creative project in Wandsworth for/with local residents please submit a description and documentary images here. If your project had a particular legacy, shout about it!

Something else?

Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions about Wandsworth Art and how to take part.
