Wandsworth Artists’ Open House 2021

In response to ongoing Covid-19 risks, Wandsworth Council has made the hard decision to cancel Wandsworth Artists’ Open House – it’s annual showcase for local artists – for a second year.

Over 2020, Wandsworth Council’s Arts Service kept the ethos of Wandsworth Artists’ Open House alive through the creation of Wandsworth Art, a digital platform for highlighting and promoting local creative talent and offering a chance for art lovers to take a glimpse at artworks usually hidden behind Wandsworth’s front doors. This free alternative to WAOH has enabled Wandsworth’s resident artists to set up their own online profile and display images of their work in much the same way as WAOH artists.

Some of the artwork uploaded to Wandsworth Art has been selected for display on hoardings and the lamppost banners in Balham, Furzedown, Tooting, Earlsfield, Southfield, Roehampton, Putney, Wandsworth Town, Battersea and, soon, Nine Elms as part of Wandsworth Council’s FRAMED project.

Over the second half of 2021, Wandsworth Council will continue promoting residents’ creativity in a covid-safe manner, through installations in the public realm and promoting work online.

Local artists are invited to create a profile on Wandsworth Art for free, enabling their artwork to be considered for the next round of installations on local high streets.
