Roehampton Bull celebrates his 60th birthday

The Bull on Downshire Field is a Grade II listed sculpture by Robert Clatworthy. It was commissioned by the London County Council at the behest of A. W. Cleeve Barr, one of the lead architects for the Alton Estate in Roehampton and was created in 1961, making it 60 this year.

To celebrate this golden birthday, Wandsworth Council is throwing the Roehampton Bull a birthday party!

Join us for Pass the Parcel and Musical Bulls (our version of Musical Statues) with bull themed prizes and special birthday cake. There will also be lots of bull themed arts and crafts activities including decorating bull flower/pen pots, masks and wooden fridge magnets.

For several weeks we have been collecting suggestions from residents for a new name for the bull – which will be revealed in a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’.

The Roehampton Bull’s 60th birthday party is on 19th August from 13.00 – 15.00 on Downshire Field (otherwise known as Bull Green.)
