Biography / Artist statement

Raksha Patel visual artist based in Battersea. She studied MFA painting, Slade School of Art, 1998. Her practice looks at ideas of place and identity.

Recent works depict juxtapositions between the everyday, and the surreal and dreamlike encounters experienced on the streets of Battersea. Her work incorporates the local landscape of Battersea, fusing elements from nature taken from the park alongside the concrete of Wandsworth's estates, and the public art in it.

She has exhibited with numerous galleries and museums and currently works as a lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts.
