Peter Jones
Biography / Artist statement
Peter Jones is a linocut printmaker and a watercolourist. His paintings, made from photographs, are observed with great attention to naturalism and detail. The prints move away from the naturalistic paintings to a bolder more expressive style. Subjects come from numerous sources of inspiration and range from fruit, fish, animals and landscape to abstract surrealism. “Rain” is a split screen image from above and below the water.
For several years he lived aboard the narrowboat Ginger Bunny on the Grand Union canal which became his home and studio and was the inspiration for many prints of the waterways. He now lives and works in East Putney.
