Nichola McGuire creates art under the title Eclectic Gift and has been creating work that positively represents people of colour since 2015. She is passionate about inclusivity and visibility and focussed heavily on people and portraits, especially females which has led to her art collection and local workshops being named ‘WomenKind’. Nichola began her art journey after struggling to find ballerina artwork that accurately represent her daughters. She considered if she has ever felt ‘seen’ as a child and didn’t want the same for other families like her own. She has gone on to create many pieces, including a piece featured on a greetings card for Sainsbury’s. Nichola is also very interested in sharing her experiences surrounding mental health to end stigma and create safe spaces for women to connect feel they are not alone. Nichola’s collection named ‘Iceberg’ is a selection of work expressing and sharing the different effects of poor mental health and recovery. Nichola is a champion for representation and inclusivity and continues to create diverse artwork for all families to enjoy.
