Luke M Walker
Biography / Artist statement
Luke M Walker is a Battersea-based Artist whose work focusses on the local environment and documenting the changing city around him. This involves walking expeditions in the immediate locality but also taking him further afield on specific walks where he collects data and material from which he constructs his paintings. He collaborates regularly with local partners including working with Wandsworth Council and Battersea PowerStation to create and run an outreach arts programme in 2017 in which we ran art workshops in over 15 schools across the borough reaching over 1000 students. He’s also run walking tours with both Nine Elms Partnership and The Chelsea Fringe. He attended Emanuel School in the 1980’s and has lived and worked in the borough for nearly 15 years. He is also Co-Founder of the Wilderness Art Collective a group of over 40 artists whose work engages with the landscape and promoting environmental issues and became a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 2019.
