Biography / Artist statement

Helena Maxwell-Jackson is an artist and art(ist) teacher based in Putney. She practices under the label Nouveau Cyborg.

Nouveau Cyborg explores the cross-fertilisation of the organic with the inorganic to create unfathomable landscapes (or 'spiritscapes') arising from the tensions between the imaginary and the undiscovered.

Specialising in surreal watercolour, digital, and mixed media paintings and prints that delight in the uncanny, she works to commission, producing work that blends alien realism with steampunk abstraction with an art nouveau flourish.

Why do you love Wandsworth?

I love the heaths and common, the people, the shops and galleries, the river, the cafés and pubs. You can feel like you are in the heart of London, a country village or the middle of a far away forest at a moment's notice.
