Biography / Artist statement

Chris Lessware is a male abstract and figurative artist living and working in Furzedown for last 14 years. At the moment, he mostly works in oils on canvas, often 100x100cms. His paintings are mostly abstract and expressionist and develop, with his help, on the canvas, without much pre-planning or sketches. Despite this method, they usually turn out to have a fairly strong central image, are highly colourful and deeply, sometimes roughly, textured. Additionally, he has been attending life drawing sessions at Putney SAD for the last ten or so years and has a significant collection of life drawings and paintings executed over that time. In a normal year, he offers his work for sale at 4 or 5 exhibitions annually; Wandsworth Open House, Brixton Urban Art and the Sprout Gallery are regular slots. In addition, his work is available for purchase and/or display on Saatchi, Artbridge, and Little Van Gogh. Most of his work can be seen on Instagram.
