Biography / Artist statement

Anastassia Zamaraeva is a Wandsworth based ceramic artist. She was born in Russia and spent her early years in Canada before relocation to the UK with her parents at age 12. After initially training in architecture, Anastassia reconnected to her childhood love for clay in 2018. She has been a full time ceramic artist for the last three years and has participated in a number of group shows around the UK. Anastassia has recently been awarded an Arts and Health Micro commission from Arc, Stockport, to develop a project with her dad about his experience of living with multiple sclerosis. Anastassia holds an MA in Art Psychotherapy. Her studies have had a profound influence on her work, which now rests on the meeting point of art and art therapy. The draw of clay for Anastassia is in its innate ability to connect us to our unconscious and past experiences of touch. Her work, led by intuition and a sense of play, explores the multifaceted experience of being human; with all its melancholy, discomfort and humour.
