Alexandra Milton
Biography / Artist statement
Born and educated in Paris, artist and illustrator Alexandra Milton's work has been exhibited at art fairs around the world. She works in collage: she collects handmade paper from around the world, then tears the paper and weaves it into a multitude of layers to represent animals and birds.
Alexandra studied in various schools in Paris, including the Academie Charpentier. She then moved to London where she furthered her artistic education at Central St Martins and Putney Art School.
Alongside her collages, she illustrates children’s books: her 2010 title, 'Call Me Gorgeous', was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Award. It was also selected as a Bookstart title, 2010, and Bookbuzz title, 2012. Her following book, 'Good Luck, Little Owls', was published in autumn 2012. Her most recent work, 'Who is in the Egg?' (2020) is published by Boxer Books in the UK and USA. It is also available in Dutch and German.
She now lives in Wandsworth with her husband, the writer Giles Milton, where she also runs art classes for children.
