Biography / Artist statement
Abi Lipski is a London-based multi-disciplinary fine artist who creates fantastical visual narratives based on intuitively developed fiction and lore. Often working with oil paint and watercolour, she utilises vibrant colours and bold brushwork, reminiscent of Fauvism. Her work depicts recurring characters and fictional rituals within surreal landscapes. Abi’s practice illustrates a layering of history, fractured memory and myth influenced by nature, music, writing, powerful female icons and her birthplace, Epping Forest. Collating photography, collage and sculpture she re-contextualises visual abstracts from her surroundings, popular culture and memory. Abi describes her work as escapist, dream-like and often humorous. A portal through which the viewer can visit to make otherworldly discoveries.
Her work has been exhibited in group shows across London at Flowers Gallery, Graham Hunter Gallery, Oxo Tower Bargehouse and the Truman Brewery.
