I am a self-taught artist based in London and East Anglia. I was brought up in Wimbledon village, in a house filled with colour and design, but life took me in other directions. Fibromyalgia cut short a career in marketing and for decades I struggled with chronic pain and depression.
Last year I started painting again after a break of 40 years. I began to post my work on Facebook and later Instagram, then began selling it. An NHS pain management course at St George’s Hospital boosted my confidence. My pictures of living with chronic pain and the experience of the course are now on display in the Phoenix centre at the hospital.
I paint in watercolour and acrylics, sometimes on paper, sometimes on canvas. I love experimenting with different media. I also make giclée prints from my digital artwork. My art is based on my emotional response to what I encounter in day-to-day life in South West London. I am inspired by nature and mostly paint landscapes. Earlier this year, one of my pictures was highly commended in the Leisure Painter Open Art Competition.
At my Open House you will find pictures of the Thames, Wimbledon Common and Wandsworth Park, along with work inspired by recent visits to the Sussex and Norfolk coasts. I enjoy working on commissions.
