Are you interested in music, dance or theatre? Do you have local knowledge of Wandsworth? Wandsworth Council’s Arts Service are recruiting an Arts & Culture Marketing and Communications Assistant through the DWP Kickstart scheme.

This position is for one year and is open to 16-24 year-olds on Universal Credit. A job coach must refer you for your application to be considered.

Wandsworth Arts Service supports, champions and facilitates arts and culture across the borough, working with artists, venues and communities to help make Wandsworth a thriving cultural hub. Every summer, we present Wandsworth Arts Fringe, the council’s multi-artform fringe festival, in venues and public spaces all across the borough. We are also behind Wandsworth Artist Open House, an annual event where local artists throw open the doors to their front rooms and studio spaces, and wandsworthart.com, a digital exhibition platform for local artists. We work with schools to embed creativity in education, with hospitals and healthcare professionals to weave creative wellbeing into local health provision, and developers to build new creative spaces for Wandsworth. We send out a monthly newsletters celebrating the brilliant creative activities, events and opportunities happening in the borough, we write features on Wandsworth’s cultural heritage and spotlight emerging talent, and we run full creative marketing and communications campaigns for our flagship events and projects. We’re looking for:

  • Excellent written skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of individuals.
  • Demonstrate an active interest in a career in the arts or events sector.
  • Willing to work in a team, but also self-motivated and able to use initiative.
  • Experience of working and delivering to deadlines and multitasking between various projects.
  • Excellent digital and design skills – Microsoft Office, social media platforms, Photoshop and InDesign

Salary                            

£10.85 per hour (LLW) £22,568 per annum pro rata

Hours

36 hours per week (full time) or 4 days a week minimum

7.2 hours a day, usually worked between 9am – 6pm.

You may need to work some evenings and weekends to attend events.
