Artists’ open house is a great way to meet artists in an informal and relaxed setting. It's a great day out and can be a real magical mystery tour with a fantastic range of artworks on show. You might also find artists demonstrating special techniques or offering hands-on making activity for all the family. From working studios, garden sheds and front rooms, you are guarenteed a warm reception and a great day out.
Don't forget that this is also an excellent opportunity to buy art without paying gallery prices. There are all sorts of creative pieces to be enjoyed and bought at very reasonable prices.
With this website you will be able to browse through the artists taking part (see here for last year's artists) and plan your own personalised trail - just click the stars on the listings you're interested in and then visit the 'your trail' page to print out the details. Our postcode mapping function means that you can create a trail based on the area you want to visit. Just type in your postcode and a list of nearby houses will appear.
When walking or cycling round, look out for posters in windows and/or balloon festooned gates which will signpost an Open House.
You can collect a borough-wide event guide from your local library. Different local area trails with more detailed maps are also produced by the artists taking part. You can find out more about these at:
